Description

Curious about what The Hive is all about?

You’re invited to a rare and intimate preview of The Hive! While our 2025 Cohort of Fellows gathers for our quarterly retreat, you're invited to get to know some of our Members, staff, and Fellows, and then join us for the "lecture" portion of our retreat.

This special morning features a conversation between La Shanda Sugg and D. Lamar Hughes, two of The Hive’s Core Faculty whose friendship and shared practice ground this session in warmth and radical honesty. Together, they bring decades of experience in trauma-informed healing, spiritual care, and liberatory community organizing.

Their topic: Why turn our attention to somatics in an age of crumbling empire?

Where empire demands control, liberation asks for trust. What does it mean to practice embodiment not as a way to fix or manage our bodies, but to listen to them? To receive their wisdom? To move toward collective healing?

We’ll begin with coffee and some mingling, then step into this live session drawn from our current Fellowship retreat. Limited to just 20 guests, this event offers a taste of what The Hive's all about. You'll be invited to join us for a summer class, become a Member, or even sign up to be the first to know about our 2026 Fellowship Cohort.

We look forward to seeing you!

Intention of the Hive

When you join a Hive experience, you're invited into our intention to create a group experience that's inclusive, rooted in mindfulness, and dynamically relational. We aspire for each Hive experience to model these intentions, and even to refine them as we continue to learn how to gather in a way that's transformative! The embodiment of these intentions by Hive facilitators, Members, and class participants is what makes the Hive the unique and healing social container that many experience it to be.
