Description

In this cozy creative writing course, we’ll embrace the art of slowing down and finding warmth through storytelling. Inspired by Toni Morrison’s words, “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn't been written yet, you must be the one to write it,” we invite you to consider what feels missing in the stories you encounter daily—on social, in the news, in conversations, and your reading. What warmth, hope, or truth would you like to share with your community to expand our collective consciousness?

Together, we’ll explore these inspirations and themes to create stories that resonate deeply within you. Open to both poets and prose writers—use this time to work on existing projects like a short story, a section in a novel or non-fiction book, a series of poems, etc. The class series will include weekly somatic-based creative writing exercises, time to work on existing or new projects, and a workshop to share short writing excerpts and receive feedback.

Intention of the Hive

When you join a Hive experience, you're invited into our intention to create a group experience that's inclusive, rooted in mindfulness, and dynamically relational. We aspire for each Hive experience to model these intentions, and even to refine them as we continue to learn how to gather in a way that's transformative! The embodiment of these intentions by Hive facilitators, Members, and class participants is what makes the Hive the unique and healing social container that many experience it to be.
